Why we started Preconfigured

1. Growing up, Sajana had the privilege of seeing what it took his father to scale a fledgling cosmetics and chemical manufacturing operation. From day 0, the focus was always on the factory floor. Plans always detailed more transformation on the line: conveyor belts, bottling machines, labeling machines were all lined up and throughput was precisely calibrated. Over the years, it worked its magic: productivity increased, more shampoo bottled, more creams mixed.

2. While the factory has had the capability to be precisely configured, the commercial brain of the business was always left wanting. Sajana saw that an OE order might take weeks to quote, touching multiple systems across the CRM, ERP, pricing, inventory and freight. Tracking opportunities to upsell existing customers was always reactive and ad hoc because sales and service worked in separate systems.

3. Dhruv has spent his career coming at this from the opposite angle: designing software to enable manufacturing, industrial and energy companies run their commercial operations. Through his work at Salesforce, he saw first hand what it takes to build useful technology for the front office. His work never stopped with shipping a product – it always required navigating software, solution architecture and change management to bring value.

4. AI is changing the front office landscape. Thinking machines bring with them the ability to reimagine the commercial brain of business. The future lies not in incremental improvements to existing software but a true transformation that changes what it means to do field service, customer service and sales.

5. Our mission is to help manufacturers bring the same care to the front office that they’ve always brought to the factory, so they can grow with confidence and their people can spend more of their time on the work they’re proud of: serving customers, solving hard problems and building what the world runs on.
